2009 Sense of Wonder Camp

In the Summer of 1995, we held our first Sense of Wonder Camp for girls. The writings of Rachel Carson express the philosophy that guides our camp.

“If I had influence over the good fairy who is supposed to preside over the christening of all children I should ask that her gift to each child in the world be a sense of wonder so indestructible that it would last throughout life.” These words of Rachel Carson express the philosophy that guides our camp. We want girls to know the beauty and mystery of nature and to see and learn about female role models who hold a deep regard for the Earth and the amazing life on Her. Camp is held every year the week that includes Summer Solstice.

Camp Staff & Committee: The full-time staff is led by naturalist and certified teacher, Lisa Sanchez. In addition to the guest presenters, the camp is supported by Susan Lithgoe, Elizabeth Clure, and Full Circle Susquehanna board members.

Camp will be held the week of JUNE 15-19, 2009. The theme for camp this year will be Creativity - Creative Use of Resources. Click here for a review from a past camper's mother. For a Sense of Wonder Camp brochure, please email FullCircleSusq@aol.com

Dreams

We would like to establish a permanent center for Full Circle’s work, including the reading room, and workshop space.

Molly Keen Memorial Library

Full Circle Susquehanna, Inc. received a large and diverse book collection through the estate of Molly Keen. We have established a reading and free-lending library, using this collection as a foundation of books. The library is located at Radiance, 9 West Grant Street, Lancaster, PA, 17603 (717-290-1517)

Workshops

Our workshops have brought leading voices in ecofeminist spirituality to Lancaster. In the Spring of 1997 we presented a weekend workshop with Margot Adler, NPR journalist, author and feminist thealogian. In the Spring of 1998, 2000, and again in 2006, we hosted Starhawk, author, activist, and a founding member of the Reclaiming Tradition. We sponsored Anodea Judith, author and one of North America’s foremost experts on chakras, in the Autumn of 2002. In the October 2006, we hosted Elizabeth Cunningham, Interfaith minister and novelist.
