In the Summer of 1995, we offered our first Sense of Wonder Camp for
girls. The writings of Rachel Carson express the philosophy that guides
our camp. “If I had influence over the good fairy who is supposed to
preside over the christening of all children I should ask that her gift
to each child in the world be a sense of wonder so indestructible that
it would last throughout life.” We want girls to know the beauty
and mystery of nature and to see and learn about female role models who
hold a deep regard for the Earth and the amazing life on Her.
Held
in the Lancaster County Park, the eco-feminist camp for girls ages 8 to 15 ~ is sponsored by Full Circle
Susquehanna, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) women's organization dedicated
to the empowerment of girls and women. The camp is staffed by Full
Circle Susquehanna board members, guest presenters and Sense of Wonder
alumni.
Camp is held every year the week that includes
Summer Solstice. For a Sense of Wonder Camp brochure, please email
